Let me get this straight. We should believe and trust the Michael J. Fox anti-Republican ad shown in Missouri on stem-cell research even though he told ABC he has not read Missouri's Cloning/Stem Cell Amendment... (See the Video...). By the way, Rush Limbaugh has apologized for suggesting that Fox was either acting or off his meds during the filming of the controversial ad. Rush stated on his show: “I Was Wrong. Fox Took Too Much Medication.” Michael J. Fox, himself, explained: “The symptoms that I had in the ad that I did, that's called dyskinesia, and that's actually from too much medication.” One can’t blame Rush too much for the mistake. After all, Fox had previously detailed in his book, Luckiest Man, that he went off his meds previous to Congressional hearings and other times in order to demonstrate the effect of Parkinson’s disease.
There wasn’t much that Michael Fox got right in those ads. He was wrong about Missouri Senator Jim Talent not supporting stem-cell research. He was even wrong about the ballot initiative, which is an amendment legalizing and funding cloning rather than promoting stem-cell research for cures for Parkinson’s disease. The Michael J. Fox “stem-cell research” ad that ran in Maryland against Republican candidate Michael Steele was as wrong headed as the Missouri ad. Steele backs stem-cell research. His Democrat opponent, Congressman Ben Cardin, does not.
